UFC 208 Embedded - Big names share big hopes

Nathaniel Diaz | 10 February, 2017, 02:13

I know she had a year off but it was a year off and back into a title fight. Even when I first went into MMA, it was, 'I want to be the only fighter that has had championships of the highest in both boxing and MMA, ' and I was able to do that. But as a fighter who walked around at 165 pounds, she couldn't get down to 135, were all the money fights were to be found at bantamweight with the likes of Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate. During an interview with the website, she brought up one of her past fights when she knocked out a man who was 40 pounds over her. They match up in interesting ways; the bout should be really entertaining, and there are some interesting storylines that you can add to the fight based strictly on their combat sports histories. "After Saturday, nobody will ever forget me again". Last December, she was flagged for a potential violation of the UFC's drug-testing policy, administered by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, and is now disputing it. While she lost her first title defense and is on a two fight losing streak, she has fought solid competition, in the UFC, with a very capable Marion Reneau being her lowest ranked opponent in the promotion.

"I don't really know a lot about Germaine, I know she has good striking, but I'm a Holly fan, I'm always going to go with Holly, even though now I could be potentially fighting her, it's weird". 'Maybe she'll come back in the future.

Germaine de Randamie's latest win was against Anna Elmose at 'UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Arlovski.' She won via TKO with a knee to the body, 3:46 into the first round.

For years, the fighter widely recognized as the best women's featherweight competitor in the world - and, many also insisted, the overall best women's pound-for-pound fighter - was Cris "Cyborg" Justino.

"Yes, everybody knows I want to fight everybody in the division", she said.
"If you want to call yourself a true champion you face everybody".

"You second-guess yourself. I remember when I got knocked out, every time I would spar for the first two weeks, every time I would get hit, I would be like, am I OK?"

"I think any fighter they can only know for themselves what they really feel, but I guess I don't really feel like I broke her, but I do know that coming off of the knockout, when I knocked her out, that helped the fight with Nunes go faster if that makes any sense".

Before UFC 208 takes place on Saturday we get a look behind the scenes with UFC Embedded.

"Obviously that stuff made me more busy and that stuff put me more in the public eye, but that's not why I lost those fights", Holm explained. People who never watched MMA ever are supporting me right now and the most important thing for me is to enjoy it.

On Saturday, the UFC returns to NY to make a little more promotional history at UFC 208. I believe we're going to make an exciting fight.

"There are levels to MMA and Australia is still so young in the sport... the training just isn't as good as it is here, not for me at least". It was the third knockout victory of her career, the second in as many fights.
