Russian's ban may make Caster Semenya a double Olympic champion

Russian athlete stripped of London 2012 gold medal More Olympic gold for Semenya as Savinova stripped of 800m medal for doping

Savinova-Farnosova, 31, won the 800-meter title ahead of South Africa's Caster Semenya.

The country's athletes missed last year's Rio Olympics and will be absent at August's World Championships in London after the IAAF voted to extend Russia's suspension.

However, CAS has now imposed a four-year period of ineligibility on Savinova-Farnosova from August 24, 2015 and disqualified her from all races between July 26, 2010 and August 19, 2013.

Mariya Savinova has been stripped of her London 2012 gold medal in the 800m by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

"I ran the Olympics and I won the silver medal, so I can't celebrate anything other than my silver even if they crown me Olympic champion it is just an award from them I never celebrated", Semenya said.

"However, Savinova-Farnosova probably will appeal".

In 2013, another Russian, Elena Arzhakova, was found to have violations in her biological passport and was suspended backdated to July 2011.

The WADA commission which investigated Russian track and field had originally recommended a lifetime ban for Savinova.

She is the latest in a growing list of Russian athletes to have past Olympic medals taken away over doping, as the nation struggles to overcome its most widespread doping scandal ever.

The German documentary led to the WADA inquiry and to the International Association of Athletics Federations suspending Russia from international competition.

Dmitriev spoke of secret video footage of suspended coach Kazarin, who is seen in a sports hall in Chelyabinsk during a training session for 400m runner Artem Denmukhametov. All these (investigations) continued for more than two years and we're all exhausted of it.

She is the second Russian from the 2012 800m final to be retrospectively banned.
