A Federal Elections Commission commissioner called on President Donald Trump Friday to substantiate his claim of massive voter fraud in New Hampshire. "Allegations of this magnitude can not be ignored", FEC Commissioner Ellen Weintraub said in a statement on Friday. Such an allegation would mean that thousands of people illegally voted in New Hampshire - a felony under New Hampshire law, commissioner Ellen L. Weintraub said in a statement Friday afternoon.

That is not the first time Trump has said voter fraud cost him electoral votes, despite the fact that he won the White House.

Politico and The Associated Press reported that Trump made the claims Thursday during a private lunch meeting with a bipartisan group of 10 senators about judge Neil Gorsuch's nomination to the Supreme Court.

Ayotte was present because she is leading the "Sherpa" team that is shepherding Gorsuch during the confirmation process.

Allegations of drive-by voters have plagued New Hampshire elections, including accusations by former U.S. Sen.

Trump has insisted since the election, without presenting any evidence, that he only lost the popular vote because millions of votes were illegally cast. Scott Brown that his Senate bid in New Hampshire failed only because of MA residents crossed the border to vote against him.

Trump alleged in a White House meeting earlier this week that illegal voters from MA successfully voted in New Hampshire en masse, three sources familiar with the meeting have told CNN.

As a candidate, Trump also repeatedly raised the specter of widespread voter fraud during early voting across the country.
