Dead Bodies Identified as 2 Missing Indiana Teenage Girls

Jon Howard | 16 February, 2017, 01:14

The girls' bodies were discovered along the edge of Deer Creek, about a mile east of Delphi, Indiana.

Two 13-year-old U.S. girls who went missing on Monday have been found dead, and the case is being investigated as a double homicide, police say.

The girls' bodies were found almost 60 feet from the water's edge on private property, Riley said on Wednesday.

"You believe what you can and then we have to go with the truth that we have so that's what we're working on".

In a story February 14 about the search for two missing girls, The Associated Press, relying on information from police, incorrectly reported that Liberty German was 13 years old.

A report via RTV6 cited investigators saying they considered the girl's discovery as a 'death investigation' and had not classified the case as a homicide.

German posted a photo of Williams looking somber on a railroad bridge in Delphi, Indiana.

Police said that family members dropped them off but it is not clear if it was a parent of either girl, or a sibling or other relative.

The two bodies were found three quarters of a mile away from the bridge, where the girls were last seen.

Foul play is suspected but police have yet to comment on how the victims died.

They were supposed to return to the same spot later in the day to be picked up.

"I know it's had a bad effect on our people and we are grieved this sort of thing would happen here in our community", Mullins said.

Delphi Community Schools Superintendent Gregory Briles said counselors will be available for students and staff Wednesday.

We have a very good community and they are very strong.
