June PlayStation Plus Free Games Lineup Revealed

Gold-PS4 A Gold Play Station 4 Appears To Be On The Way Shannon Grixti

"You can use this to update your system software to version 4.70", Sony wrote on its PS4 system software page.

Fans of Sony's gaming platforms will be surprised to know that the company has officially halted production of the PS3 in Japan.

All good things must come to an end.

New members can get a 14-day trial of PS Plus for free.

The PS3's idiosyncratic Cell microprocessor-powered architecture also hampered adoption: performance of multi-platform games was frequently worse on PS3 than on the Xbox 360, which had launched a year earlier.

PS3 was launched in November 2006, and brought up a revolution on the console market. However, Sony will likely stop supporting the PS3 with game and system updates immediately.

All six PlayStation Plus games will be available free of charge for subscribers through the month of June.

The two PS4 titles surfaced through a leak ahead of Sony's official announcement. Instead of the usual six free games it looks like they limited it to just two but chose to go for some measure of quality over quantity.

This might suggest that Sony is putting more of a focus on playable demos and online coverage than Microsoft.

One fact, which has not been highlighted in the official change log, is that Sony has changed the iconography for the device, as pointed out by Polygon.

There have been some suggestions that PlayStation Plus could include PlayStation VR games at some stage in the future. Other territories, such as New Zealand, ceased production of the PS3 back in 2015, but now that it's stopped being produced in Japan, it's only a matter of time before all remaining territories follow suit. Recently, we could see on Twitter a picture of the games Killing Floor 2 and Life Is Strange, for PlayStation 4. Other reports indicate that it will be shipping close to 18 million units of PS4. That's excluding Sony's PlayStation Portable (launched in 2004) and the Nintendo DS (also launched in 2004), most of whose aggregate 236 million unit sales transpired during this period.
