Updates to Apple Watch, new watch faces and Siri expansion

Apple unveils watchOS 4 and the future of Apple Watch Updates to Apple Watch, new watch faces and Siri expansion

In a bid that reminds us of the Google Feed, the Apple Watch now has a Siri watchface coming with watchOS 4.

Apple has shown off watchOS 4 at WWDC 2017. In the demonstration shown by Apple this week, the Apple Watch attained information from gym equipment using NFC.

The Siri face will deliver information to the user depending on what time it is and what events the user has lined up for the day. But the most fun of all have to be the ones based on three classic Toy Story characters, Woody, Jesse, and Buzz Lightyear. It packs new watchfaces, better Workout and Activity apps, improved fitness equipment integration and a redesigned Music app.

You can also sync fitness equipment in gyms with the Apple Watch starting this fall, regarding things like calories burned.

It's thought the watchOS 4 update will come to both the Apple Watch and Apple Watch 2 devices as well as newer devices too. Music playlists can be set to start with workouts in the Workout app, too. It debuted at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2017. It will also display notifications whenever the user is close to earning an achievement or if it's possible to maintain the same level of intensity in each day of exercise routine.

Apple has announced the latest version of the WatchOS operating system. Can a Siri watch face be better? The company promises that Siri will be proactive with the all-new watchOS, and Apple also introduced a new Siri Watch face. On the surface, you'll get watch faces powered by Siri that utilize machine learning to observe your habits over time and display the information you'll find most relevant.

The developer preview of the new operating system is available now, with the customer release coming this fall. This is called Gym Connect - and it's not likely the last.

The Apple App Store is also getting a revamp, picking up clues from Apple Music's design which has apparently been successful with the public. There's also support for audio recording in the background navigation, screen auto-rotate and native Core Bluetooth.

The best-selling wearable on the market (well, estimated, since Tim Cook will never tell us exactly how many units the company has actually sold) is done with edging into the health and fitness space. You can also control your music playing during a workout by swiping on the watch and hitting play or pause.
