Trump's approval rating dips to 34%

Trump Approval Rating Beats Slick Willy At This Point In His First Term Poll: Trump's approval rating dips to 34%
Darrell Mcdonald | 08 June, 2017, 05:50

President Donald Trump's approval rating fell to a new low on Wednesday, dropping from 37% to 34%, according to a new poll conducted by Quinnipiac University.

The poll caps a two-week period that was fraught with unpopular moves from the president.

Trump's approval rating was heavily correlated to party affiliation - 81% of Republican respondents expressed approval of Trump's performance, while a paltry 4% of Democrats said the same.

More specifically, 25 percent of people "approve strongly" of the president, compared with 9 percent who "approve somewhat", 6 percent who "disapprove somewhat" and 51 percent who "disapprove strongly".

That 34% approval rating is down three points from Quinnipiac's May 24 poll, and is the lowest Quinnipiac has recorded since Trump took office on January 20.

The latest poll findings - based on telephone interviews with roughly 1,500 American adults - follow a Monday report that the president's approval rating had dipped below the percentage of voters who want Congress to impeach him. Sixty-two percent of respondents said Trump's decision to withdraw from the agreement was a mistake, with 78 percent saying they are "very concerned" or "somewhat concerned" about climate change. Politico reported that the survey found 57 percent of respondents disapproved of Trump. Thirty-seven percent of college graduates approve of the president and 46 percent without a degree feel that way.

A majority of voters, 54 percent, think Trump is too friendly with Russian Federation, compared to 38 percent who think he has the right attitude toward Russian Federation.

More than two thirds of voters - 68% - reported they were "very concerned" or "somewhat concerned" about Trump's relationship with Russian Federation.

The poll's numbers reflect the public's increasing distrust regarding Trump's connections to Russian Federation - 31% of respondents said they thought Trump did something illegal in dealing with Russian Federation, and 29% said he did something unethical but not illegal.

Another 29 percent of respondents think the president did something unethical, but not illegal, regarding his relationship with Russian Federation.

Trump is the 45th President of the United States. "If this were a prize fight, some in his corner might be thinking about throwing in the towel". The margin of error is 3.2%, according to the release.
