The lucky punter matched all six numbers on their Powerball ticket which was sold in southern California.

But Matthew Alberre, the owner of Marietta Liquor & Deli, said his family is excited about getting $1 million for selling the lucky ducat in Menifee, Calif.

Alberre owns the store with his father, who has owned it for 26 years.

The winning numbers were were 20, 26, 32, 38, 58 and the Powerball number 3. Lottery officials said the earliest the ticket could be redeemed is 8 a.m., and the victor has one year to claim the prize.

"We're so blessed for this to happen", Alberre told The Associated Press. He says they were grateful to receive news that their store sold the ticket.

The ticket sold in the Sun City area of Menifee in Riverside County is worth an estimated $448 million before taxes are taken into account.

No one has won the jackpot since April 1, thus the reason for its large size.

The odds of winning Saturday's drawing were only one in 292.2 million.

Powerball - based on lottery tickets sold for $2 apiece - is played in 44 states as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The victor can choose to receive the whole jackpot in annuity payments over the course of 29 years, or claim a smaller lump sum up front, according to CNN.
